ALVARO ALENCAR

“Born in Hong Kong to a Brazilian father and German mother, and raised across Switzerland, Brazil, and the USA, I’ve always been driven to unite diverse cultures and creative visions. After classical piano training at age 14, I studied at Berklee College of Music and later developed my craft in New York’s dynamic studio scene in the late 90s. This led to collaborations with top talents, shaping my open-minded style. Over the years, I’ve worked with renowned artists such as Bacilos, Maria Rita, Gilberto Gil, Lenine, Rappa, and Marcelo Falcão, and contributed to projects like AggroDr1ft (Harmony Korine), Baby Shark, and Bossa Nova (Bruno Barreto). My partnerships extend to institutions like Universal Music, Alacran Studios, Toca Discos, Wisseloord Academy, and Ulassa Music.

In 2000, I co-founded Estudio Toca do Bandido in Rio de Janeiro, a hub that became iconic in Brazilian music, earning global recognition. This era brought 10 of my 13 Latin Grammy awards and a chance to help artists explore new creative possibilities. Since 2014, I’ve deepened my focus on Latin American music, working with artists like Jorge Celedon and Luis Enrique. My work now spans music, movies, and multimedia art, continuing my lifelong goal of bridging cultures and fostering creativity across various platforms.”
